Blippar - tiny blip or major mobile marketing breakthrough?

Set for launch any day now, Blippar, an Augmented Reality (AR) platform, is set to cause quite a kerfuffle in the mobile marketing world.  Smart phone or tablet users will be able simply to shake their mobile at a TV, billboard, newspaper or tag and a 3D website will leap out at them.

How does it work?
First you download the app, then look for Blippar’s small ‘b’ logo.  Take a snap of whatever media or product it is that contains the logo and the image launches content such as voucher codes, free downloads, 3D games, payment and even translation services.

What exactly could this mean for marketers?   Well, it’s just cool.  OK and also…

  1. It transforms the customer experience into pull, not push, marketing as users actively request  interaction.
  2. You have a direct call to action that is quantifiable by number and type.
  3. It creates a memorable experience, which can be fun and informative.
  4. Its PR/viral applications make it an easy leader of cross-media campaigns.

See some AR applications in action on Blippar’s website.  I reckon this will leave the poorly received black and white Quick Response (QR) bar code high and dry.  What do you think - will it catch on?  Where would you like to see it being used?

I have been browsing online greater than three hours nowadays, yet I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is beautiful worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content material as you probably did, the internet will likely be much more useful than ever before.

Blippar comes in at a very interesting time.  Just when QR codes are becoming mainstream showing up everywhere, they slide right in to make the experience even better and more seamless for the user.

#3 Sounds very cool, not sure

Sounds very cool, not sure how quicky it will be adopted but definitely could make quite a splash!
